About the Show

Imagine you could have a perfect conversation every time, getting exactly what you want from the other person. Katharine, the main character in this show, has a theory she thinks will help you do just that. Free wine, snacks, and conversation after the show, so you can test her theory.

Written and performed by Alexis Clements, directed by Rosalie Purvis, and produced by actio/reactio, the show is available for touring.

“As a playwright, Alexis Clements walks a jagged line between theatre, performance art and installation art.”
– Dyana Kimball in Out of Time & Place: An Anthology of Plays by Members of the Women’s Project Playwrights Lab.

About actio/reactio

actio/reactio is a production company, founded in 2006, which concentrates on performance art and experimental theater. The group focuses on work that produces heightened relationships between the audience and the performer,  challenging norms in performance, and mounting works that have a life beyond the duration of the each performance. Past productions include The Interview by Alexis Clements, directed by Sarah Norman, at the Pleasance Dome (one of the Edinburgh Fringe’s top 3 venues), Edinburgh Fringe, Scotland, 2006; Your Own Personal Apocalypse, a work of performance art and installation, at Chashama (East 42nd Street, NYC), and as part of the One Million Forgotten Moments Project; Dance Away Your Debt, a performance art piece, at the NYC Dance Parade and FIGMENT 2008.

“Cleverly constructed and exceedingly well-performed, this smashing little play by Alexis Clements teases out a near-future world where everything is controlled by an unseen, all-beneficent company…The balance of power shifts and moves subtly between the two under Sarah Norman’s precise and perceptive direction.”
—Thom Dibdin, The Stage, on actio/reactio’s 2006 Edinburgh production of Alexis Clements’ The Interview
